Accountability

United Nations Global Compact

The UN Global Compact is a commitment between the United Nations and responsible businesses.

This agreement provides a framework for businesses to align operational strategies in accordance with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. It is a voluntary initiative based on public accountability, transparency, and disclosure to complement regulation and to provide a space for innovation.

Polymetal has been a signatory to the UN Global Compact since 2009.

CDP

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

The Carbon Disclosure Project is an independent, not-for-profit organization that aims to create a lasting relationship between shareholders and corporations by working to transform the way the world does business to prevent dangerous climate change and protect natural resources. Its goal is to encourage a rational response to climate change, water use and deforestation by facilitating a dialogue supported by harmonized, quality data.

Polymetal made its first submission to the CDP Climate Change in 2015 and will continue to report on an annual basis.

ISO

The ISO 14001 standard requires a company to have an environmental management system in place that identifies and controls the environmental impacts of its activities, provides the opportunity to continually improve its environmental performance, and implements a systematic approach to setting and achieving environmental objectives. The environmental management systems at all of Polymetal’s operations are certified against the ISO 14001.

FTSE4Good Index

The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. Transparent management and clearly-defined ESG criteria make FTSE4Good indices suitable tools to be used by a wide variety of market participants when creating or assessing responsible investment products. Polymetal International is a constituent of the FTSE4Good Global Index following the December 2015 review.

Euronext Vigeo Index

Vigeo’s indices are composed of the highest-ranking listed companies as evaluated by the agency in terms of their performance in corporate responsibility. This index distinguishes companies achieving the most advanced Environmental, Social and Governance performances. Polymetal has been integrated into the Euronext Vigeo index – Emerging 70 (the 70 most advanced companies in the Emerging Market Region) since June 2015.

STOXX Global ESG Leaders Index

The STOXX Global ESG Leaders Index is calculated by STOXX Ltd., a global index provider fully owned by the German stock exchange Deutsche Börse Group, and is made of three ESG sub-indices, which are based on sustainability data provided by Sustainalytics, a global provider of ESG research and analysis. Selections to the indices are carried using a fully transparent and rule-based process that rates companies based upon stringent ESG criteria. index is created on the basis of the sustainability performance of 345 companies selected from the STOXX Global 1800 Index.
